I don't know what it was about this page, but the color work would just NOT cooperate with me. I think it was because I was experimenting with more localized bounce light, which I think I got the hang of later on, but which can have the effect of making an image feel a bit disjointed. Either that or the bright purple flowers were just really tricky to work with. I ended up leaving this page unfinished for months, only returning to it this week, when I finally had to post it. That's the upside of deadlines, sometimes!
This past week has been a strange one--earlier this year I moved to a new city, Glendale, which apparently goes feral during the holidays. It took me a good half hour to get through the parking lot at my gym, which is really the parking lot for the enormous shopping center The Americana At Brand/The Glendale Galleria, and after wading through the crowds at Porto's Bakery to pick up a pumpkin pie (requested by my dad--I stubbornly refused to get a grocery store pie) I drove to my parents' house and have been basically lying catatonic all evening (date: Wed, 11/27). I really hope I get my energy back tomorrow, or at least Friday, as I'm scheduled to finish up the bonus story for The Glass Scientists: Volume III. The first draft is down, but like the color work for this page, it's been fighting me.
