I see all you tumblr-folk calling your favorite characters "trash," but how many of you can say you threw your characters into the literal (fictional) garbage??
Though-- I did just rewatch Tokyo Godfathers and I have to say my trash-drawing game is weak as hell compared to that film. Godfathers is filled with layouts that feel weighty and lived-in but are also bursting with personality and history, despite being populated almost exclusively by things that are pretty objectively ugly and unremarkable. It's also a movie that bleeds pathos for all of its characters, pulls off hair-pin turns from slapstick comedy to heartfelt drama to social commentary in seconds, features out-of-this-world acting animation, and of course showcases Satoshi Kon's trademark clever story transitions and surrealist elements. Satoshi Kon basically embodies everything I want to be in a storyteller and his films remind me of all my failings. Um. What were we talking about? Right-- trash werewolves.
Our trash-wolf friend has gotten weirder-looking in the last two pages. Has he transformed? Sort of. Not really. It's related to his overall life-failure that will be explained as the story unfolds.
