Adding in all those heartbeat sound effects is such a pain for me, you don't even know. They really should be present on every panel when Hyde's dealing with his 'spiraling thoughts'--in this instance, ever since the police torch hit him near the end of Chapter 15. But I procrastinated on them so badly that they're somewhat inconsistently peppered in here--I believe I caught all the instances for the print version of Volume 3 coming out later this year, but for now, please be kind and imagine they have been consistent for this entire chapter.

By the way, this scene was, I believe, the last major rewrite of the outline, and the most significant one. The fact that this story took over ten years to complete is usually a source of frustration for me, but in situations like this, I'm glad I'm able to revisit old material to incorporate new life experiences.

Comments section update: As y'all may be aware, I have not had the bandwidth to thoroughly keep track of the comments section recently, especially after the first half of the week. While the vast majority of the comments have been chill, there have been a few instances of obvious abuse over the last couple months that I've been unfortunately late in addressing. I believe I have deleted all the offending comments as of this writing and will try to be more vigilant in future, but please don't hesitate to flag abusive or email me (glitterygothic at gmail dot com) to alert me to any new incidents.

I'm sorry I haven't been on top of things lately! But thank you to everyone who has brought the situation to my attention so far. And as a general rule, please do not post any comments attacking or disparaging other commenters. I tend to give folks the benefit of the doubt, but I will delete comments that seem to be trolling or, uh, fucking around in ways I don't understand but seem to be in bad faith in some way? I'm sorry if you're operating on a level of gen Z humor that I'm too old to understand, but this community only works if we maintain a positive and nontoxic vibe, and I have to draw the line somewhere. Cool? Cool.
