This scene was sooooo much longer in the first draft. It's already a challenge when Hyde does his "voice inside your head" routine because it so easily turns into rambling. No external input, no barriers, just an endless eternal monologue voicing a laundry list of insecurities. This is like . . . the climactic version of that, shaking Jekyll's brain to see all the "fake" versions of other characters he has living in there. Each of them had quite a lot to say to Hyde, but to keep this scene from taking over the entire chapter, I had to boil their dialogue down to their simplest possible points.
