When you're already immersed in the story of Jekyll and Hyde, it is easy to forget that "Jekyll and Hyde are the same person" is not nearly as obvious or intuitive to its characters as it is to modern readers. They would know folk tales about werewolves and shapeshifters and the like, but a guy transforming into another guy . . . ? I'm not sure there's many precedents for that (let me know if I'm wrong here). I'm not even sure there are any explicit references to it in the alchemical texts Frankenstein is referencing--not that those would be very helpful to Lanyon either way. For the time being, he remains unconvinced.

You know, I don't know what my life is going to look like once I hit my final deadline for Volume 3 at the end of this year, but I hope I will be able to take a nap without spending the entire rest of the week scrambling to make up for the lost time. That's what happened this week, unfortunately. I guess it's not just the nap--technically, my nasty crunch time finished a couple weeks ago, but I think I'm dealing with a bit of mental/emotional fatigue in its wake, which is leaving me sluggish and inefficient many days. Hoping things get better soon!
