Publication day is tomorrow! Last year, I had been cautioned by several authors that pub day is kind of a let-down--after all that build up, nothing in particular happens save for a few social media notifications. Your book is just available for purchase now, but there's no set time for readers to all engage with it at the same time like they would for a TV show (a network TV show, anyway--streaming has condemned all but the most well-promoted shows to the Netflix equivalent of the bargain bin at a used book store).

I followed their advice and set aside the day as a self-care day, treating myself to a nice lunch, a massage, and some window-shopping.  I'm not sure if I'll do that this year--the deadline for Book 3 is only fourteen weeks away, and I might end up spending the day stressing out about how much harder I'll have to work to make up for taking the day off. But I will at least take a few hours to visit Chevalier's Books, where I will be signing more than 200 books (!!!!) for everyone who pre-ordered from them. It sounds like they got a much bigger share of the pre-orders this time around, which I'm so delighted about!
