This concludes Chapter 15 of The Glass Scientists! It sure was a lot, huh?? Tune in next week for the start of Chapter 16!
Now for a thoroughly awkward change in subject: I'm sure this past week has been a rough one for my US-based readers, as it has been for me! In times like this, I tend to find relief in, um, idiosyncratic places? Right now I'm jumping back and forth between scenes in Volume 3 to hit my end-of-year deadline, and I'm finding comfort working on the depressing scenes, which feel validating and cathartic right now, while cringing at the more uplifting ones, which feel like bullshit. (For similar reasons, I find The Bear relaxing and Bluey stressful. My brain is weird.)
I'm having a lot of panicky thoughts that don't feel very productive to share in this space, especially without some thorough fact-checking, so for now I will just say: I am so honored that you all have built this small community around this comic, and I hope that we can be a source of support and solidarity for each other in the months to come.
I know that I have a lot of LGBT+ readers out there. I also know from aaaallll the addresses I looked up during the first pre-order campaign that y'all truly come from all over. I am so lucky to live in a city with both a strong queer community and strong legal protections for LGBT+ folks, but I know a lot of you do not. It's not fair, and I want to help fix that. I don't know how yet, but that is my intention heading into 2025.
